Sister's Say: JLA at her best!

One kiss could be the last.

Seventeen-year-old Layla just wants to be normal. But with a kiss that kills anything with a soul, she's anything but normal. Half demon, half gargoyle, Layla has abilities no one else possesses.

Raised among the Wardens—a race of gargoyles tasked with hunting demons and keeping humanity safe—Layla tries to fit in, but that means hiding her own dark side from those she loves the most. Especially Zayne, the swoon-worthy, incredibly gorgeous and completely off-limits Warden she's crushed on since forever.

Then she meets Roth—a tattooed, sinfully hot demon who claims to know all her secrets. Layla knows she should stay away, but she's not sure she wants to—especially when that whole no-kissing thing isn't an issue, considering Roth has no soul.

But when Layla discovers she's the reason for the violent demon uprising, trusting Roth could not only ruin her chances with Zayne… it could brand her a traitor to her family. Worse yet, it could become a one-way ticket to the end of the world.

It's taken me awhile to get to this one. I've been in a YA slump and just really busy lately. But what a book to kick my YA slump in the butt! I should have known it would be a JLA book that did the trick. She's my go to author for all things!

So, White Hot Kiss, I feel like it's an amazing mashup of the Embrace series and the Sweet Evil series. That should catch your attention! We have a world that is on the cusp of total chaos.  On one side we have the Wardens or gargoyles with their pure souls protecting the world. And on the other hand, we have the demons out to destroy what the Wardens are trying so hard to protect.  Then of course there's the girl, Layla, with a foot in both worlds.  Good and evil are not always what they seem especially when secrets are being kept in every corner.  Throw in a mysterious book that could bring about total destruction and you have the makings of something great!  JLA also brings in her trademark snarkiness and drop dead sexy guys to create another winner!

Like all of her previous YA books, there are boys.  Hot boys, with a touch of bad that make them irresistible.  And my friends, there are 2 such lovelies in this book, Roth and Zayne.  The mysterious bad boy that seems to know too much vs the boy next door that has always been slightly out of reach.  I am dying to find out which one she chooses! After WHK, I know who my guy is, but we'll see how I feel after books 2, Stone Cold Kiss.

If you're wanting to know which Team I'm on at the moment, I could try not to be partial until after book 2, but I just can't do that! Because, Roth, oh my gosh Roth is just way too up my alley to not shout from the rooftops about him! He slayed me in this book. He literally shattered my heart into a million little pieces but in the best type way. I love him, and I'm 99% sure he will have me until the end.  However, JLA has her Voo-Doo ways of creating boys that we all just fall head over heels for, so I had to save a 1% for Zayne just incase.  And, to be fair, we don't know a lot about Zayne quite yet. WHK was definitely Roth's book, so we'll see how I feel after SCT.

So if you have been a total cheese ball like me, and haven't picked up White Hot Kiss yet, I BEG and IMPLORE you to not wait another minute. You can go ahead and add Roth to the Daemon & Aiden short list because he definitely deserves to be there! JLA has created another world and more characters that will cause you endless hours of starry eyed daydreaming! Sweet dreams friends!
