The Sisters Say: It's JLA!!!!!! And We LOVE HER!!!!
In a sizzling prequel novella to her new series THE DARK ELEMENTS, #1 New York Times bestselling author Jennifer L. Armentrout draws readers into the extraordinary, irresistible world of Wardens and demons.
Dez wasn't just Jasmine's crush. A gargoyle Warden like Jas, he helped her come to terms with her destiny—fending off demons and maintaining balance between good and evil. He was her everything...right until the moment he disappeared without a trace. It didn't help that Jas's father had just announced that she and Dez would one day be mated. Hard not to take that personally.
And now he's back, three years older, ten times hotter, ready to pick up exactly where they left off. But Jas isn't taking that risk again. Dez has seven days to meet all her conditions and earn back her trust. Seven days filled with terrifying danger and sweet temptation. Seven days to win her heart—or shatter it all over again...
Never has 7 been so lucky! Dez has 7 days to convince Jasmine to be his mate in Jennifer Armentrout’s new Dark Elements Series. And all of you will think she is CRAAAAZZZY for even having to think about it for more than ONE day when it comes to those broad shoulders. And then when those pale blue eyes with dilated pupils begin to suck you in, you’ll change that to half a day! And when you read about their first kiss “to seal the claim,” I’m betting you’ll think she should have said, “YES,” instantaneously!
Although this is actually a prequel novella to White Hot Kiss, I am so glad I read this one first. Armentrout is a creative world builder and this novella made the world of gargoyle wardens and demons real. At first I thought—ugh, I’m not sure I want to read about gargoyles since to me they have always been these little stone monsters at the top of buildings, but Armentrout in her awesome character creation, has transformed these creatures into humans/winged warriors. For those of you who are doubting this fantasy world could ever be romantic, just wait until you meet Dez. Jasmine and Dez are gargoyle wardens and their job is to keep the balance between good and evil, but their species is declining and “mating” is important not only to their survival but to the war against demons. And in this world a girl has 7 days to decide whether she wants the male who has asked her to be her life-long mate. At the end of 7 days, she must say “yes” or “no.” Jasmine has always loved Dez, but three years ago when her father suggested they be mates, Dez left without a word for those entire three years. What else is a girl to think than he doesn’t want her? And now that he is back with no explanation, Jasmine is just stubborn and proud enough to deny her love, so she is not making it easy. In that 7 days, she has given Dez conditions he has to meet—most of which involve not only forbidden but very dangerous activities for Jasmine. Dez is determined to meet every condition along with one of his own even though he is sure she will say, “NO.” The challenge is on and, oh, does the fun begin with rubbing the hands together in a muhaha cackle!
YA fans who shake and moan in Armentrout withdrawal after they finish each book and await the next, this is a fix worth waiting for!
